How do I create an assignment template?
Open Master Data & Templates, click New Template and fill in the cards: identity, due-date rule, checklist and fees. Then save it as Active so people can use it.
Who can do this: Admin, PartnerLast checked: 20-10-2026
Start a new template
- Click Master Data & Templates in the left menu.
- Open the Assignment Templates tab and click + New Template.
- In Template Identity, type the Template Name, for example CHG-1 Filing.
- Choose the Act. You can also choose a Rule / Chapter under it.
- Choose the Frequency and fill the form number and statutory due text if you have them.
Set the due-date rule
In Due-Date Rule, choose how the due date is worked out. You can use a fixed date each year, a date relative to another event, or manual entry only.
Good to knowIf a rule depends on another event, DueFiler uses it when it builds the compliance calendar.
Add the checklist
- In Document Checklist, click + Add Item.
- Type the item, for example Board resolution.
- Choose the Item type: File Upload for a document, or Confirmation for a tick box with no file.
- Tick Mandatory if the task cannot be finished without it.
- Repeat for each item.
Add the fees and the DSC need
- In Fees & Expenses, click + Add Fee / Expense Line. A professional fee is known in advance. A government fee is only an estimate, because the real amount is entered at filing.
- In DSC Requirement, tick Requires a DSC to file if a digital signature is needed.
Save it
Click Save & Activate to let people use the template now. Click Save Template to keep it inactive for the moment.
What you will seeThe template opens in edit mode. A Live Preview on the right shows what each new task will contain.
Changing a template later
- Each real change is saved as a new version. The old versions stay in Version History, and you can go back to one.
- Tasks that were already created keep the checklist they started with.
- To stop people using a template, click Archive Template.
Cannot see this on your screen?
- Your role must be one of these: Admin, Partner. If it is not, ask your Admin to check your access.
- If your firm’s trial has ended, DueFiler is read-only. You can see everything, but you cannot add or change anything.
