How do I keep Acts and Rules up to date?

Open Master Data & Templates, then Acts & Rules. Add Acts, chapters and compliance items. A changed rule reaches a client’s calendar only after you create that year’s calendar again.

Who can do this: Admin, PartnerLast checked: 20-10-2026

What Acts and Rules are

Acts and Rules is your firm’s list of laws and the filings under them. DueFiler uses it to build each client’s compliance calendar. Companies Act, GST and Income-tax items are already there.

Add an Act

  1. Click Master Data & Templates and open the Acts & Rules tab.
  2. Click + Add Act / Regulation.
  3. Type a short Code and the Name. You can add the citation and a short description.
  4. Click Save.

Add a chapter or a compliance item

  1. Click the Act’s name to open its page.
  2. To group items, click + Add Rules / Chapter, type the name and save.
  3. To add a filing, click + Add Compliance Item.
  4. Type the Description, the Statutory Due text, the Form and the Frequency. Set the due-date rule.
  5. Click Save.
Be carefulDeleting an Act also deletes every compliance item under it. This cannot be undone.

When you change a rule

A change does not update calendars you have already created. This keeps your existing dates safe.

  1. Open the client’s Compliance Calendar tab.
  2. Delete that year’s calendar, or delete only the item you changed.
  3. Create the year’s calendar again, or click Sync from Master Data & Templates.
Good to knowSync from Master Data & Templates only adds items that are missing. Tasks you already made are never touched.

Cannot see this on your screen?

  • Your role must be one of these: Admin, Partner. If it is not, ask your Admin to check your access.
  • Compliance Calendar depends on your firm’s plan. If its menu item shows a small lock, your plan does not include it yet. Ask your Admin.
  • If your firm’s trial has ended, DueFiler is read-only. You can see everything, but you cannot add or change anything.
