How do I connect my email to DueFiler?

Open the Inbox, click Connect New Email Id, choose your provider and type the email address and password. Gmail needs a 16-character App Password from Google.

Who can do this: Admin, PartnerLast checked: 20-10-2026

Before you start

For Gmail and Google Workspace you need an App Password. This is a 16-character password that Google makes for one app. It is not your normal Gmail password. In the connect window, click the guide link to see how to make one.

Connect the mailbox

  1. Click Inbox in the left menu.
  2. Under Mailboxes, click + Connect New Email Id.
  3. Type the Email Address. For common providers, DueFiler chooses the provider for you.
  4. Check the Provider: Gmail, Google Workspace, Yahoo IMAP or IMAP / SMTP.
  5. For Yahoo or another provider, fill the IMAP and SMTP details your provider gave you.
  6. Type the Password. For Gmail, type the App Password.
  7. Click Connect.
What you will seeThe button says Verifying & connecting… for a few seconds. Then a green message says the email account is connected.

What happens next

  • DueFiler brings in today’s mail, from midnight (IST) up to now. After that it keeps checking for new mail.
  • Older mail is not brought in.
  • You can also connect from Integrations & Settings (under Billing & Settings), on the Email Accounts tab.

Control who can see the mailbox

  1. Open Billing & Settings, then Integrations & Settings, and click the Email Accounts tab.
  2. Open the row menu of the mailbox and click Configure.
  3. Choose All staff with Unified Inbox access, or Restricted to specific staff and tick the people.
  4. Click Save.

If a mailbox stops working

A bar in the Inbox says the mailbox has stopped syncing. Click Reconnect in the row menu and type the password again. Disconnect stops syncing but keeps your message history.

Cannot see this on your screen?

  • Your role must be one of these: Admin, Partner. If it is not, ask your Admin to check your access.
  • Email Inbox depends on your firm’s plan. If its menu item shows a small lock, your plan does not include it yet. Ask your Admin.
  • If your firm’s trial has ended, DueFiler is read-only. You can see everything, but you cannot add or change anything.
