Why does my task show Blocked because of a DSC?
A task that needs a DSC is set to Blocked when its signatory has no valid DSC that can sign. Record a valid certificate and the task returns to its earlier status.
Who can do this: EveryoneLast checked: 20-10-2026
What you see
The task status changes to Blocked. A comment from the System appears on the task. It starts with Automatically blocked and gives the reason. The people on the task also get a notification.
Why it happens
The task has Requires a DSC to file ticked. The person who signs it has no digital signature that can be used today. The reason in the comment is one of these:
- There is no DSC on file for the signatory.
- The application is still in progress. The certificate is not yet issued.
- The certificate has expired. A certificate that is only close to expiry does not block.
- The certificate is Encryption-only. It cannot sign a filing, even if its dates look fine.
- The token is recorded as Lost or Damaged.
How to fix it
- Open DSC Management and find the signatory’s record.
- Fix the cause. Record the new certificate, or click Renew, or correct the custody entry.
- Wait a moment. DueFiler checks again after each change to a DSC.
What you will seeThe task goes back to the status it had before. A comment says it was unblocked because a valid DSC is on file.
Good to know
- If you set the task to another status yourself, DueFiler blocks it again at the next daily check, until the DSC problem is fixed.
- A task you blocked yourself, for your own reason, is never changed by DueFiler.
- A task that is Done is never changed.
- Portal registration does not block any task.
Cannot see this on your screen?
- Everyone can use this. If your screen looks different, ask your Admin.
- DSC Management depends on your firm’s plan. If its menu item shows a small lock, your plan does not include it yet. Ask your Admin.
- If your firm’s trial has ended, DueFiler is read-only. You can see everything, but you cannot add or change anything.
