How do I record a DSC and who holds it?
Open DSC Management, click New DSC Application and save it. When the certificate arrives, click Record as Issued. Log each handover of the USB token as it happens.
Who can do this: Admin, Partner, Company SecretaryLast checked: 20-10-2026
Record the application
- Click DSC Management in the left menu.
- Click + New DSC Application.
- Type the Signatory name. This is the only required field.
- Choose the Client entity and the Linked director, if the token belongs to a director. Leave the client blank for a token held by the firm.
- Check the Certificate class and Certificate type. Most signing tokens are Signature.
- Click Create Application.
What you will seeThe new record opens. Its status says that the application is in progress.
Record the certificate when it is issued
- Open the record and click Record as Issued.
- Type the Issued date and the Expiry date. Both are printed on the certificate.
- Click Save.
Good to knowWhether a DSC is Valid, Expiring or Expired is worked out from the expiry date. You never set it by hand.
Log who holds the token
- Click the ⋯ menu on the record and choose Log custody handover.
- Choose the Movement type, for example Handed Out (OUT) or Received (IN).
- For a handover, choose the Receiver type and type who now holds the token.
- Check the Date and click Log handover.
The history is never edited. If you made a mistake, log a new entry and choose the earlier one under Correcting an earlier entry?.
Renew a DSC
Click Renew on an issued DSC. DueFiler makes a new application record and keeps the old one. Record the new certificate as issued when it arrives.
Portal registration
Open the Portal Readiness tab to note where the DSC is registered, such as MCA V3 or GST. You can do this only after the certificate is issued. DueFiler does not check the portal. It keeps your own record.
Cannot see this on your screen?
- Your role must be one of these: Admin, Partner, Company Secretary. If it is not, ask your Admin to check your access.
- DSC Management depends on your firm’s plan. If its menu item shows a small lock, your plan does not include it yet. Ask your Admin.
- If your firm’s trial has ended, DueFiler is read-only. You can see everything, but you cannot add or change anything.
