How do I link companies in a group?

Open the client, go to the Corporate Group tab and click Add Relationships. Choose holding, subsidiary or associate, then pick the other company.

Who can do this: Admin, Partner, Company SecretaryLast checked: 20-10-2026

Add a relationship

  1. Open the client and click the Corporate Group tab.
  2. Click + Add Relationships.
  3. Choose the Relationship type: this company is the holding company, a subsidiary, or an associate of the other company.
  4. Search for the Related entity. You can also type the name of a company that is not your client.
  5. Check the Legal reference. DueFiler fills the section of the Companies Act for you.
  6. Choose the Effective from date and click Add Relationship.
What you will seeThe link appears in the group table. The same link shows from the other company’s side.

End a relationship

  1. In the group table, open the row menu and click End.
  2. Click End Relationship to confirm.

The relationship moves to Past Relationships. It is not deleted, so you keep the history.

Good to know

  • DueFiler stops a link that would make a circle, for example a company that holds its own holding company.
  • A chain of more than two layers is allowed, but DueFiler warns you. Check the Layers Rules, 2017. The warning shows on the Overview tab.
  • Tasks are still made one company at a time. Each company in a group has its own filings.

Cannot see this on your screen?

  • Your role must be one of these: Admin, Partner, Company Secretary. If it is not, ask your Admin to check your access.
  • If your firm’s trial has ended, DueFiler is read-only. You can see everything, but you cannot add or change anything.
